FMA Standing Committees

Federal, state, and international regulations directed at product safety, workplace safety, and environmental concerns are placing an increasing burden on our industry. Therefore it is incumbent on the FMA, in representing the commercial interests of the industry, to appoint committees, properly structured and appropriately charged, to assist the FMA in addressing these concerns.

Education and Program Committee
Chair: Al Bauer

  • Develop programs of general interest to the membership of the FMA, that also address the organizational objectives.
  • Set program schedules and venues of regular and special meetings, and other functions, designed to appeal to the general membership and further the cause of the Fragrance Materials Association.

Export-Import Committee
Chair: Kathy Slagle
Board Liaison: James G. Dellas

  • Assimilate, digest and distribute information concerning legislation and regulations pertaining to the import or export of fragrances and fragrance ingredients.
  • The Export-Import Subcommittee is to act as a conduit to the Board of Directors of the FMA, as well as other FMA committees, with information concerning export-import matters that could affect industry members.

Instrumental Analysis & Specifications Committee
Chair: Richard Signorelli, Ph.D.
Board Liaison: Richard C. Pisano, Sr.

  • Review, recommend and monitor instrumental and other analytical techniques and specifications for fragrance materials.
  • Compile and communicate specifications for fragrance materials.
  • Support and assist the Scientific Affairs Committee, the Research Institute for fragrance Materials, and other groups are recommended by the Board of Directors.

Joint Occupational Safety, Health, & Environmental Committee
Chairs: Eileen Hedrick and Joseph Bania
Board Liaison: Peter Lombardo

  • Review and exchange methods for improving workplace safety and health.
  • Provide occupational safety and health regulatory compliance information to the fragrance industry.
  • Exchange information concerning compliance with federal, state and local environment laws and regulations.
  • Provide environmental regulatory compliance information to the flavor and fragrance industries.

Membership Committee
Chair: Scott VanWhy
Board Liaison: Steven Tanner

  • Insure that those firms in the United States and overseas engaged in fragrance materials business are aware of, and encouraged to be members of, the FMA.

Scientific Affairs Committee
Chair: Kevin Renskers, Ph.D.
Board Liaison: William Troy, Ph.D.

  • Provide scientific and technical information necessary for effective industry action.
  • Provide scientific and technical coordination and liaison with other FMA committees and outside agencies and bodies, thus representing the views and interests of the FMA, as shall be determined by the Board of Directors.
